Bordz-Up's Racks featured in SIA

Plenty of effort goes into designing and buying new products, but much less thought goes into how to store and display. Two new manufacturers introduce storage ideas for skis and snowboards that can be used at retail, in rental shops or sold directly to consumers.

BordzUp, a finalist in this year's ISPO Brand New Awards, unveiled its Gravity Suspension Rack (GSR) last October. Offered in sets of 10 for a retail wall or in single or double units for domestic board display, the GSR is a deceptively simple-looking device that holds boards by gravity. The three neoprene-covered points at the end of pivoting steel arms conform to the board's shape and grip the board. The frame is screwed directly into the wall. One size fits all snowboards. A ski model will follow.

Radically Inclined's RAX holds 32 sets of skis in a two-foot by four-foot box on wheels that uses 33 percent less space than most ski storage systems on the market today. The skis are stored by the tails in 4-inch heavy-duty PVC tubing. Ski shops can move skis where they want them, when they need them. RAX is ideal for ski rental returns: the customer simply puts the skis in the RAX; once that RAX is full, the Ski Tec rolls it to the shop for maintenance or to checkout. RAX accommodates most rental ski widths up to 102-mm tails and works great for twintips. RAX also has models for super fats up to 128 mm. — MK
